I attended a show at the Wiltern, a small venue where the sound was the worst I have ever experienced. Total distortion and overly deafeningly loud was present, perhaps due to a lack of a mixing board. The advantage of a small venue is you don’t need all that, but it was not a good showcase for Yellow Days' talent. He used too many prerecorded tracks and his time making loud sounds on a synthesizer board was really amateurish. His sister, the opening act, was actually better than he was. There were also too many opening acts for an artist playing a venue that size. The DJ that came out after his sister took too long, and it didn’t work as a build-up, becoming boring. People were there to see him, but he didn’t connect personally with the audience. If he played his guitar instead of the synthesizer board, it would have been more impressive. It felt like he was somebody to listen to only at home and not live. His management needs to go back to the drawing board to rebuild his live show. I go to concerts all the time, and I have never left a show feeling this way. Typically, I leave every show wanting to go again and feeling happy and upbeat.
